Leadership can be lonely. It can be hard to find someone at work to workshop difficult problems with. With more than 16 years’ experience as a senior leader, I can help your emerging and established leaders work their way through the thorniest problems.

Why me?
I’ve been a journalist for more than three decades, working at the intersection of media and technology. During that time, I’ve created a track record of crafting and executing strategy in a highly volatile and competitive sector and building great, high-performing teams.
I was part of a small team that launched the ABC News website, and for 29 years I drove digital transformation at the national broadcaster. Over that time I developed a fascination for strategy and a passion for leadership.
During my career as a senior executive at the ABC, I oversaw teams of more than 450 people across digital, radio and television and a budget in excess of $50m.
I was the consistent driving force behind a series of strategies that took ABC News from the back of the online news pack in Australia to the top of the pile. I have nurtured dozens of innovative start-ups at ABC News. Some have built huge audiences and have gone from strength to strength. Others flared brightly but briefly before being mothballed.
I am comfortable in ambiguity and relish uncertainty. Both offer opportunities for people with the courage and insight to grasp them.
I have coached or mentored scores of emerging leaders and enjoy nothing more than seeing their development accelerate. I have established teams with outstanding cultures, and turned around others where the culture was toxic. I am a consummate people person. I have an innate understanding of what makes people tick.
In everything I do I am guided by my values. Chief among them are humility, honesty, trust, empathy and integrity. I have always strived to be a servant leader, seeing my chief purpose as setting up my people for success. It’s an attitude I’ve carried over into my work as a consultant.
Away from work I enjoy spending time with my wife Caron and my three grown-up children – Samuel, Alexandra and Charlotte. And our dogs Jack and Bean.
I am a football (the sport also known as soccer) tragic - playing, coaching and supporting teams. And I love to run, especially on trails. So much so that I run a trail running newsletter Trail Runner Australia.
